Most people wouldn’t choose to start a business in the middle of a global pandemic but that’s exactly what friends Stefan Hill, Mark Piper and Jack Thomas have done, taking EvolveArc from a small cosmetic repair shop to a fully-fledged and well-respected operation with three busy accident repair centres in the Midlands.
The friends are driven by a desire to build a business which genuinely has its customers’ best interests at heart, offers a comprehensive service, competitive pricing, the best parts for the job and most importantly, outstanding customer service.
Building a business that cares
It was the pandemic that kickstarted their entrepreneurial plans when all three, like thousands of others, suddenly found themselves with little to do. Stefan and Mark used to race motorbikes with Stefan crowned World Endurance Champion in 2019. With races cancelled Stefan’s sporting career was on hold, Mark found himself out of work following an invaluable stint at AutoTech Group and Jack was struggling to find a job after completing a business degree.
Despite initially not having in-depth knowledge of automotive repair, the friends decided to start EvolveArc, motivated by a desire to create something which was different to existing repair shops, where customers got the best deal available, could speak to repairers directly rather than the insurer and ultimately have peace of mind.
Undeterred by the tough economic climate and ongoing issues around Covid-19, the friends put 100% into launching their new venture, pooling their resources to buy a spray booth and compressor and rent a 2,500sq ft space in Coventry in January 2021.
In the space of just three years and with a lot of hard work they have built the company into the thriving three-centre operation it is today with a move to a larger 6000sq ft site in the city, the opening of a 9,000sq ft centre in Birmingham in 2022 and a modern repair shop in Leicester.
Evolving to meet the demands of future automotive repair
In addition to their growth plans, EvolveArc has achieved BS 10125, the industry gold accreditation for automotive repair which ensures the company provides consistently safe and high-quality vehicle damage repairs. All staff are trained in electric vehicle awareness and hold many EV specialist qualifications. Staff are also IM accredited which is reviewed every three years to ensure they’re up to date with emerging technologies.
EvolveArc has also invested heavily in specialist equipment to ensure EV vehicles are repaired to manufacturer specifications. The company is dedicated to reaching net zero, achieving PAS2060 and has taken steps to reduce power usage, go paperless and increase its EV courtesy car fleet.
